Privacy Policy

This policy explains what FeedZen collects, how it uses and shares that information, how long information is kept, and the choices available to you.

Information we collect

  • Account and security information. Your name, email address, hashed password, verification status, authentication tokens, session data, and two-factor authentication settings. If you use Google sign-in, FeedZen also receives your Google account identifier and profile image.
  • Feed and reading information. The RSS feeds you follow, lists, muted terms, pinned feeds, starred articles, and related settings.
  • Feed content. Article titles, links, authors, summaries, images, publication dates, and article text fetched from RSS publishers so FeedZen can build your timeline and requested features.
  • AI requests. When you request a summary, recap, or follow-up answer, FeedZen sends the relevant article content, titles, your question, and limited prior follow-up context needed to answer it.
  • Connected assistant data. When you authorize an assistant through FeedZen's MCP connection, it can request recent article titles, excerpts, authors, source metadata, links, images, publication times, Hacker News discussion metadata, starred status, and pagination data from your account.
  • Billing information. Stripe processes payments. FeedZen stores Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, the selected plan, subscription status, and billing dates. FeedZen does not receive or store your full card number.
  • Device, log, and analytics information. FeedZen and Google Analytics may receive IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, cookie identifiers, and interaction data. Server logs also record information needed to operate and secure the service.

FeedZen receives this information from you, from your use of the service, from RSS publishers, and from providers such as Google and Stripe.

How we use information

FeedZen uses information to:

  • create and secure your account;
  • fetch and organize your RSS subscriptions;
  • provide lists, stars, muted terms, summaries, recaps, and connected-assistant access;
  • process and manage subscriptions;
  • respond to support and security reports;
  • diagnose failures, prevent abuse, and protect the service; and
  • understand site usage and improve the product.

FeedZen processes account, feed, billing, and requested AI data to provide the service. It processes security and reliability data to protect users and the service, keeps records needed for legal and accounting obligations, and uses analytics data to measure product usage.

AI providers and connected assistants

FeedZen sends AI requests to OpenRouter. OpenRouter routes each request to the model provider configured for that feature. The model provider receives the submitted article material and request context needed to produce the answer. OpenRouter and the selected model provider apply their own data handling and retention terms.

An assistant receives FeedZen account data only after you approve its OAuth connection. The assistant provider, such as OpenAI when you connect ChatGPT, may retain and use the tool output under its own privacy policy. You can revoke a connection from your FeedZen profile settings. Revocation stops new access but does not erase copies already received by the assistant provider.

Who receives information

FeedZen shares information with these categories of recipients when needed:

  • Stripe for checkout, subscription management, payment records, and fraud prevention.
  • Google for optional sign-in, Google Analytics, and publisher favicon images displayed by FeedZen.
  • OpenRouter and its selected model providers for summaries, recaps, and follow-up answers you request.
  • AI assistant providers you authorize for MCP tool results requested through your connection.
  • Authorities or other parties when disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users, FeedZen, or the public.

FeedZen does not sell personal information, run advertising, or share your feed subscriptions for third-party marketing.

Cookies

FeedZen uses session and security cookies to keep you signed in and protect requests. Preference cookies remember appearance settings for up to one year and sidebar state for up to seven days. These cookies support features you request.

Google Analytics is optional. FeedZen does not load the Google Analytics script or send analytics data until you select Allow analytics. Your choice is stored in a first-party consent cookie for 180 days. You can reopen Cookie settings from the public footer or your profile settings to allow or reject analytics; rejecting analytics stops new collection and removes the Google Analytics cookies FeedZen can access. Google processes analytics information under its own privacy terms.

Retention and deletion

FeedZen keeps your account, feed associations, lists, stars, muted terms, and settings while your account exists. Session data normally expires after two hours of inactivity. Recap results are normally cached for 45 minutes. Laravel application logs are rotated daily and retained for 14 days. Daily database backups are retained for 30 days. FeedZen may retain billing, security, and transaction records longer when needed for accounting, fraud prevention, legal obligations, or disputes.

Deleting your account removes your FeedZen profile and user-specific feed associations. Those records may remain in encrypted or access-controlled backups until the 30-day backup cycle expires. RSS feed records, fetched articles, and generated summaries may remain because FeedZen shares those records among subscribers to the same public feed. Records held by Stripe, Google, OpenRouter, model providers, or an authorized assistant remain subject to those providers' retention policies.

FeedZen attempts to cancel every active Stripe subscription immediately before deleting your account. If Stripe cannot confirm the cancellation, FeedZen does not delete the account and shows an error so you can retry or contact hello@feedzen.app. Stripe may retain billing records under its own legal and operational requirements.

Your choices and rights

You can update your email address, export feed subscriptions as OPML, delete your feed associations, manage muted terms, disconnect authorized assistants, and delete your account from profile settings.

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection, and to complain to a data protection authority. Send a request to hello@feedzen.app. FeedZen may need to verify your identity before completing it.

International processing

Stripe, Google, OpenRouter, model providers, and assistant providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Their privacy terms describe the locations and safeguards they use.
